If an expedited report is needed, this should be verbalized during the consultation meeting so Aubrey can confirm whether her current schedule allows for the request to be accommodated. Even when a report is expedited, the quality of the work is never compromised. Every report receives the same level of accuracy, care, and professional attention.

Aubrey has completed specialized training focused on conducting high-quality immigration evaluations through the Immigration Evaluation Training Center with Georgia King, LCSW. Aubrey's background includes extensive clinical work with immigrant communities (particularly in African, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European regions), domestic violence survivors, and individuals who have experienced trafficking. Aubrey's clinical background has allowed her to approach each evaluation with cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed care, and a deep appreciation of the unique challenges her clients face. Over the years, Aubrey has completed hundreds of psychological evaluations across a wide range of case types. Additionally, she uses structured templates and evidence-based assessment methods that have contributed to high rates of success. These tools help ensure that every evaluation is thorough, consistent, and aligned with what immigration courts and legal professionals expect - while still being personalized to each client's story.

Evaluations can be completed virtually through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform or in person. Because Van Houtven Counseling does not have a brick-and-mortar location yet, in-person meetings can still happen in private places including attorneys' offices or in rented office space at no extra cost to the client. Regardless of where the services are offered, Aubrey ensures that each session abides by HIPAA-compliant standards, so that confidential information remains private.

No - an immigration evaluation is not therapy. Therapy focuses on ongoing emotional support, treatment, and growth over time. An immigration evaluation, on the other hand, is a structured, time-limited assessment designed to document psychological symptoms, history, and impacts relevant to an immigration case. The purpose is to provide a professional report, not to establish ongoing care. While this process is compassionate and trauma-informed, it does not replace counseling or mental health treatment.

Aubrey conducts all of her evaluations in English. Clients who prefer communicating in a language other than English are welcome to work with a qualified, independent interpreter of their choice. While interpretation services are not provided or paid for by Van Houtven Counseling, the use of a qualified interpreter is strongly recommended in accordance with best clinical practices to ensure accuracy, clarity, and ethical standards of care.
